Next month Doug will be retiring from Akron-Westfield. We would like to thank Doug for all of his hard working maintaining our school the last 20 years.
Which school tradition, sports season, or annual event was your absolute favorite to watch or help set up? Homecoming coronation and watching the lighting of the bonfire. Nothing beats the school spirit that week.
What are you most looking forward to doing on your very first week of retirement? I will be going duck hunting and enjoying a little free time.
How many miles do you think you’ve walked across these hallways during your career here? I don’t even have a good guess, but I would love to know!
What is the best memory you have of interacting with the students or staff over the years? Putting all the memories together as one big lump sum and reflecting on all the interactions I have had is my best memory. I can’t pinpoint one in particular. It is like having another family, I have been blessed with my time here. I have been treated well for 20 years and have had some good kids working for me.
How many keys do you think you carry on your keyring on any given day? "?15 keys but I only need 5!
Which specific spot or hidden area in the school became your favorite place in the entire building? The roof so I can hide from people (just kidding)!! The roof as it was just peaceful up there, allowed me sometime to reflect and enjoy the fresh air while I was cleaning.
