New Staff Spotlight: Meet our new Middle School Special Education Teacher Mrs. Gabel. What is your favorite thing about teaching? My favorite thing about working at AW is getting to see all the students grow up from the lower grades to upper. I love seeing the progress they make!

What is your dream vacation? My dream vacation would be to go to any beach.

What is your favorite thing about teaching? Seeing students gain confidence when they master something they thought was impossible

What inspired you to become a teacher? Growing up, I had a few incredible teachers who truly understood and supported me when I needed it most. I wanted to pay that forward and be that for someone else.

The third graders took a field trip to Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve on Tuesday, September 22. During their visit, students had the opportunity to “step back in time” and experience what life was like for pioneers. They explored an old country church, a one-room schoolhouse, and the Adams family home.
Students also enjoyed hands-on activities, including making their own candles and learning traditional pioneer games such as squat tag and a hiding game that used the surrounding trees. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to connect what they have been learning in the classroom with history they could experience firsthand!
A look back into last week Thursday and Friday to end our homecoming week. Thank you to the students/staff who were very creative dressing up each day. Thank you to the businesses or families that provided tailgate meals. Thank you to our Akron-Westfield High School Student Council for all their hard work in planning the week. Thank you to all those that were in the parade or showed up to support the parade. Your cooperation with the possibility of last minute changes was appreciated, thankfully mother nature held off!
