A-W School Improvement Advisory Committee (SIAC)

The School Improvement Advisory Committee (SIAC) is an advisory group made up of representatives from the community as well as the school district. Its purpose is to enhance the relationship between the school and the community and provides an avenue to get information and identify educational concerns from a different perspective. The committee can help assess District needs and set educational goals by making recommendations to the Board on an annual basis. Based on the committee members’ analysis of the needs assessment data, they will make recommendations to the Board about the following components:

  1. Major educational needs
  2. Student learning goals
  3. Curriculum, assessment and instruction
  4. Long range and annual goals that include, but are not limited to, the state indicators that address reading, mathematics, and science achievement
  5. Bullying and harassment prevention goals, programs, training, and other initiatives
  6. Any other issues which relate to school improvement

Akron-Westfield is always looking for SIAC members and encourage members of the community to get involved.
